The Young Communist League and the Communist Party are supporting a major new online campaign for the Miami Five and are asking comrades, supporters of Cuban socialism and all those who believe in justice to add your voice of support to it. This Campaign has been established to build and mobilise support for the Miami Five in advance of an International Commission of Inquiry being held in London on the 7th & 8th March.
Voices for the Five – a major new campaigning website – brings together international personalities, trade unionists and campaigners from all corners of the world to call for freedom for the Miami Five, five Cuban’s imprisoned in US jails for fighting terrorism against their country.
YCL General Secretary Zoe Hennessy and Communist Party General Secretary Robert Griffths have added their names along with international personalities including academic Noam Chomsky, actress Emma Thomspon, Frances O’Grady, TUC, former archbishop of Canterbury Lord Rowan Williams, Aleida Guevara and authors John Le Carré and Günter Grass who have already signed up to this online call for justice for the Five. Please visit the site and send a message of support. It takes less than 10 seconds to add your name, and if you wish you can leave a more personal message and picture or video (an image of the YCL logo is is featured in this appeal for you to upload when you send a message of support).
Although one of the Five, Rene Gonzalez, was released earlier this year after completing his sentence, the remaining four prisoners have been in US prisons for more than fifteen years. International campaigners need to join together today so that our voices are heard in the White House and the men are reunited with their families in Cuba.
Please add your name today and support the International Commission of Inquiry in March 2014.
