On Transgender Day of Remembrance 2018, the Young Communist League condemns transphobia in our society, expresses solidarity with those facing discrimination and remembers those killed because of transphobia.
The YCL opposes transphobia and discrimination in all its forms. Under capitalism discrimination and prejudice are tools of the ruling class to divide and distract working people. Oppression and capitalism are inseparable and intrinsically linked.
The YCL calls for:
- An end to discrimination and transphobia in all its forms.
- Increased protection against violence and harassment for members of the transgender community.
- Full involvement in public and political life.
- Increased community and medical support for members of the transgender community.
Transphobia and the attacks inflicted on the community are a sad indictment on our society. Working people must take up the struggle and rid our society of transphobia.
No to discrimination! Yes to LGBT+ rights!
Not one more death!
