❌🎩🧐 BORIS OUT 🧐🎩❌ 👉🗳 GENERAL ELECTION NOW 🗳👈 Today Boris Johnson has been foisted on the British people as the next Prime Minister of this country. The YCL completely rejects the legitimacy of Johnson and the Tory Party’s coup. The only way forward for the youth and working people of Britain is a general election now – to elect a left government, to implement a People’s Brexit. What entitles Boris Johnson and the decrepit Tory Party to declare him Prime Minister? Who voted for Johnson? 160,000 (allegedly) Tory Party members. Who are these Tory members? Overwhelmingly old. Over 83% are over 35. Overwhelmingly white. 97% are white. Overwhelmingly male. 7 in 10 are men. Overwhelmingly not members of the working class. But this is just the latest in a long series of democratic affronts inflicted on the peoples of Britain. Ruling class parliamentary ‘democracy’ in Britain has always been deeply flawed and ultimately a cleverly constructed façade. This has been revealed even more clearly in the period since the Brexit referendum in June 2016. Our ruling class would have us believe Britain is a model democracy, but this government have ridden roughshod over longstanding Parliamentary conventions and any pretence of democracy. Following the 2017 general election Theresa May failed to win a majority in support of the Tory manifesto. Her solution? Cobble together a majority to force through her programme with the aid of the right wing and fundamentalist Democratic Unionist Party. Theresa May’s Brexit deal, the central plank of her manifesto, was rejected by Parliament not once but three times. In normal circumstances repeated defeat on a key issue, a matter of confidence, would prompt a government to fall and declare a general election. Instead the Tory Party, chief representatives of Britain’s ruling class, have cynically clung to power. The YCL Executive Committee released the following statement yesterday to mark the close of #Pride Month 2019 🏳️‍🌈 As Pride Month 2019 draws to a close, it is timely to reflect on the brave struggles and victories of the LGBT community in Britain and globally. We salute those, including YCL and Communist Party members, who joined Pride demonstrations and events across the country in June. However the struggle for liberation and equality for the LGBT community in 2019 remains an incomplete one. While significant gains have been made in recent decades, the LGBT community in Britain continues to face deep and pervasive discrimination across the social, political and economic spheres. Marginalisation, harassment and violence remain a constant feature of the lives of the LGBT community. Internationally persecution and murder are the reality faced by the LGBT community in many countries. Under capitalism discrimination and prejudice are tools of the ruling class to divide and distract working people. Oppression and capitalism are inseparable and intrinsically linked. True LGBT equality and liberation have been and will always be impossible under capitalism. But capitalism, in pursuit of its own survival and maximising profit, can be pragmatic and adaptable. Hence we have seen the rise of so called ‘rainbow capitalism’, the co-option and accommodation of certain elements of the LGBT community where it is economically useful to do so. Massive banks and companies – who a decade ago would have nothing to do with the struggle for LGBT liberation – are now the main sponsors of LGBT marches and happily drape themselves in the rainbow flag. Sponsorship by the ruling class and this opportunistic and selective approach to the struggle can never deliver real and meaningful equality for the LGBT community. The YCL opposes anti-LGBT discrimination in all its forms. Hatred against gays, lesbians, bisexuals and trans people must be combatted wherever it is found. Working people have been and must continue to be at the forefront of the struggle for LGBT liberation. No to discrimination! Yes to LGBT rights! From the Central Council of the Communist Youth of Venezuela . The political situation in Venezuela🇻🇪 . In 2019, the aggression against the Venezuelan people has risen to a higher level. The self proclamation as "interim President" of the deputy of the National Assembly Juan Guaidó –who has demonstrated to be a puppet at the service of the US State Department🇺🇸– responds to the agenda of imperialism to undermine the sovereignty of our country and justify its criminal actions against the rights of the Venezuelan people. 👾The isolation, the sanctions, the economic blockade, the sabotages, and the threats of military intervention against Venezuela, all under the cynical pretext of restoring democracy and addressing the alleged humanitarian crisis in our country, have only deteriorated further the living conditions of the Venezuelan people🧓 and youth.👶 . For the Venezuelan communists it is vital to continue building the broadest patriotic, popular and revolutionary unity to face the imperialist besieging.🚨 We also consider of strategic importance to heighten the role of the working class👩‍🔧 and the popular sectors👨‍🌾 in leading the tasks of increasing production and developing the capacities of our country for independent development.
