The Young Communist League of Britain would like to congratulate the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for a successful Constituent Assembly, which shall tackle the fascist violence of the MUD ‘coalition’ and go further towards the construction of socialism in the country.
We reject the role of the British and international media in painting the right-wing opposition as ‘freedom fighters’, when their violent, extremist actions demonstrate otherwise. As imperialism’s agents, the opposition’s interests are in direct opposition to socialism, hence their rejection of all dialogue.
Moreover, we condemn Britain’s role as the faithful imperialist stooge of the US, in which Boris Johnson and the Foreign Office echo the White House’s every last word. We also reject the EU’s criticism of Venezuela’s sovereign election, and in this light, we commend the decision of the British people to leave an imperialist organisation spearheaded by an unelected commission attempting to give lessons on ‘democracy’.
Venezuela’s Constituent Assembly will go some way towards resolving the tricky economic conditions artificially engineered by imperialist forces through the artificial fixing of the international oil prices, economic war and sabotage. The new assembly will mean that the people themselves are making the key decisions in Venezuela – the very meaning of democracy.
Despite the inevitable attacks from empire, the social achievements put in place by Commander Hugo Chavez and Comrade Maduro are immense, and must be defended at all costs.
The task for Britain’s youth is the achievement of socialism within our lifetime, and Venezuela shows us this is possible.
The YCL’s slogan of “Peace, Jobs & Socialism” is one that rings especially true in today’s Venezuela.
Viva Chavez! Viva Maduro! Viva the Constituent Assembly!
