Dear Comrades in the Palestinian Democratic Youth Union,
On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Young Communist League expresses its solidarity with and extends its fullest fraternal greetings to the Palestinian Democratic Youth Union, its parent party the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, all of its organisations from the exterior, to the occupations jails, the West Bank and to the Gaza Strip where party cadres continue to resist by all appropriate and legal means, including the Martyr Omar Al-Qasim Forces of the National Resistance Brigades.
On this day, we remember especially Al-Nakba, the 1948 ethnic cleansing of seven-hundred and fifty thousand Palestinians on which the State of Israel was built. Zionist ideology has always been inseparable from violence and ethno-supremacy, and today we remember especially the Palestinians who have been murdered, arrested, abused and assaulted since the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, amid the most recent iteration of Zionism’s continuing policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
We recognise that the creation of the Zionist state was nurtured and supported by the British State throughout its occupation of ‘Mandatory’ Palestine during the early 20th century. Today, the British government continues this policy, continuing arms sales to the occupation’s army, lending it diplomatic cover and logistical support with the use of RAF Akrotiri. To shield itself from criticism and due to the ever-increasing demands of the British masses, the British government formally recognised the State of Palestine on the 21st of September 2025. While we welcome this, we have not been fooled. We will continue to demand that the British government boycotts, divests and sanctions the Israeli state, enacts measures to end the siege on the Gaza Strip and take concrete steps to allow for the creation of a fully sovereign and independent Palestinian state on the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and the right of return of the refugees.
When standing in solidarity with Palestine and its inevitable liberation, it is insufficient to only stand in solidarity with the dead and martyred, as in the words of Mahmoud Darwish, ‘On this land, is what makes life worth living’. The Palestinian people who continue to demand their right to return to their land, live on their land and resist its occupation by every method and their legendary Sumud stands as an example to all free people of the world with their bravery and resilience. From the women’s organisations, the village committees, the public centres up to the armed resistance, we reiterate our unwavering commitment to support the Palestinian people in expressing their rights under international law as defined by UN General Assembly resolution 37/43.
We reiterate our fullest and constant solidarity with the Palestinian people and nation, and will continue to struggle until victory, liberation and return.
