Over the bank holiday weekend, Israel intensified its genocide in Gaza. Instead of adhering to the explicit order by the International Court of Justice to cease its military assault on Gaza, Israel bombed a designated ‘safe area’ in Rafah. Over 50 were killed and hundreds more injured, with many being burned alive. These are the depraved actions of a rogue, terrorist state which has blatantly disregarded international law.

British ruling-class complicity in the genocide today began in 1917 with the Balfour declaration, which was part of a plan to maintain British imperialist interests in the Middle East. Today, the British state is a subordinate of the US, our foreign policy is dictated to us by Washington and NATO. This means our ruling class continues to support with no qualifications Israel’s genocide, apartheid and occupation of the Palestinian people.

The British government denies Palestinians their inalienable right to sovereignty by giving Israel veto power over the Palestinian people’s right to self determination and statehood. We must put pressure on any incoming government to join the majority of the world in recognising an independent Palestinian state.

All peace-loving people must put as much pressure on our government to suspend arms sales to Israel, to demand an end to the genocide and an end to the illegal occupation of Palestinian land.
Join the Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s demonstrations to demand that our government take action. Organise within your local community and trade union organisations, be involved in the student uprisings wherever you can, and win victories for the Palestinian struggle, for the struggle against our ruling class’ interests, in the industrial and student movement.

In light of the recent failure of the government to pass the Anti-Boycott bill, we must escalate our campaigns for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel.

End the genocide. End the Occupation. End apartheid.
