The Young Communist League is holding it’s 48th Congress on Saturday 3 December 2016 from 12 noon at Ruskin House, Croydon. Congress is the highest decision-making body of the YCL and is held once every two years. Congress is the chance for our members from all over the country to get together and shape the policies and strategic priorities for the YCL over the next two years.

The Executive Committee has already provided Political and Organisational Resolutions for discussion, debate and improvement by our members before Congress. The Executive has also proposed an amendment to the YCL’s Constitution.

Each branch or district should hold it’s own pre-Congress meeting to discuss and debate the Congress Resolutions. Each branch is allowed 5 amendments to the EC Resolutions and 2 new resolutions of their own. Branches should also decide whether their delegates should back the EC’s amendment to the Constitution.

It is the duty of Congress to elect a new Executive Committee to carry out its policies for the next two years and fight to build the YCL. Each branch is allowed to nominate up to 10 YCLers to the Executive Committee.

All amendments, resolutions and nominations should be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 1 December 2016.

Make sure you get down to London on Saturday 3 December! We need YCLers from across Britain to come as delegates from their branches and districts to vote on the Resolutions and elect the EC. This year’s Congress is being held from 12 noon at the Communist Party’s headquarters, Ruskin House (23 Coombe Rd, Croydon CR0 1BD). Congress will be followed by a social and a chance to get know comrades from up and down the country.

Congress is a very important event in ensuring that the YCL continues going from strength to strength, building in size and influence so that young Communists can play a decisive role in advancing the interests of working class people in Britain. If you’re not sure about where your pre-Congress meeting is or you would like to attend as a delegate, please email office@ycl.org.uk

Together, we can build a better future! See you in December!
