The Coordinating Committee of Communist Parties domiciled in Britain (CCCPiB) is once again organising an event to mark International Women’s Day, focusing on the theme of “women and the struggle for peace”.

Comrades from the Communist Party of Bangladesh, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the Communist Party of Iraq, the Democratic Organisation of Iranian Women (DOIW) and the Communist Party of Britain are organising the event in order to celebrate women’s role in the struggle for peace.

It will mark 70 years since the end of WWII, 40 years since the Vietnam War, the anniversary of the founding of the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF) 70 years ago, as well as highlight the ever present wars and threats of war in the world today.

So far, friends from Bangladesh, Britain, Greece, Iran and Iraq have indicated that they wish to make presentations on the theme. There will also be cultural items such as poetry and music, a finger buffet and lots of opportunity for networking and discussion.

The event will take place on the evening of Saturday 7 March, open from 6.30 pm at the Marx Memorial Library in London – save the date and bring your friends and family! Women and men are equally welcome.

(Entry is free but there will be a collection to cover the cost of the meeting.)
